Garden Picnic at KHCC

Picnic ran well with over 30 attending over the course of two hours - we had scarecrow making, house building, drawing our garden, voxpop interviews, marking on our green spaces on map (across KH), butternut tereme and flapjacks. I'll edit voxpop in a bit and add here - some interesting comments on the garden and what we should be doing.

For the time being, a few photos from our event:

Catch up and party!

Sorry been a bit lapse on the garden blog.  All going well, and get out there for strawberries!

18th July is party time.  12:00 to 2:00 will have picnic, teddy bears, scarecrows, space exploration and, and, and, a street march.  Hope you can make it!

Marjoram, Mermaids and Minibeasts

A belated posting.  Two garden clubs since photos from this one.  Very mixed weather this June and still no strawberries, but they're looking plumper!

More rhubarb

Who'd have thought rhubarb could be so much fun?  Also managed to weed out the strawberries and blueberries, which are flowering and looking OK, if a little late.

Rhubarb

Lovely rhubarb picked today - bit of weeding too.  More rhubarb there, but strawberries still not flowering.

Picnic time!

Strawberries my be late, but time for a picnic for six families on the first properly sunny, warm day of the year.  Preparation work in the garden - raised beds dug over, runner and broad beans planted, leaks transplanted and water pistols loaded.

Garden club is back!  After a long winter, we've finally had a chance to plant those spuds.  Frosts still expected this weekend to holding back on the rest of the planting.
